REBEL SPIRIT MUSIC
Rebel Spirit Music is a community and a network for fans, artists and industry professionals where each can learn, meet and grow together. Each an ever important member of this business we call music.
Late in 2007 a group of musicians and music lovers alike, disenchanted by the current music system, got together over a bottle or two of their favoured ale and came up with the idea to create a space that would help, support and develop the careers of independent artists both individually and as a community.
Big thoughts, led to big talk, which led to big action and low and behold Rebel Spirit Music was born.
The creators of Rebel Spirit Music recognized a trend within the local music scene growing in Manhattan. Great music, great people, all pursuing their individual careers, each on their own but not utilizing what and who was right around them to take things to the next level.
Our goal is to draw the community together, starting in New York and ending, well who knows where? Our website www.rebelspiritmusic.com has been designed to help artists, no matter what stage their careers are at, to pursue THEIR goals and to network with fellow individuals who are also pursuing THEIRS!
Rebel Spirit Music offers booking capabilities, inside industry advice, recorded music and live venue reviews meant to inform artists and music lovers about who to listen to and where to book themselves. We are also excited to offer a FREE showcase of amazing artists taking place monthly at The Rockwood Music Hall. An event designed to share wonderful music and to spend time networking face to face. We all agree that the internet is a lovely place to meet, but that in person it is twice as fun.
Rebel Spirit Music is here to draw artists and music lovers together, grow and move forward as one.

Born in London's famed East End district - and raised on copious amounts of Blues and Rock n' Roll - Joel Crane has become a staunch advocator for great British music, both past and present. Having written for such UK-based titles as Mojo, Q and the NME, Crane has since turned his attentions to the resurgent music scene currently engulfing New York City. Cursed with a poetic heart and that infamous dry, British sense of humour, he continues to flourish within the industry and his cheeky and affable personality makes for candid, entertaining reading.
