LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN
Strongly influenced by the 60's musical invasion of The Beatles, it's almost impossible not to hear fragments of Lennon and McCartney in some of Dunn's work. With his passion for folk music burning bright, he fuses the two influences together making for a sound that's just irresistibly sweet. James is a storyteller of the highest order. His observational lyrics can haul you in to each song and he delivers them all with an uncompromising ease. His sound, a mixture of folk/rock and even swing and almost jovial at times, coupled with a smooth, finely-tuned vocal style does nothing if not encapsulate all that is good with the world - even if it's only for three and a half minutes. Mike Grubbs could speak for each and every one of us when he pulls at our heartstrings with tales of lost love and broken spirits. But he's more than just another poetic, tortured soul. Grubbs' combines some beautifully played piano with a voice so striking it resonates around the room galvanising everybody within earshot - both painful and beautiful in equal measure. As her latest track 'Bring It On' begins to receive the airplay it so rightfully deserves - if you haven't already heard of Paula Valstein then you soon will have. Possessing a rich and powerful voice she delivers each vocal as if it were her last. Her influences are as strong as they are varied and she incorporates them all in order to further her own unique style.
