RSM What’s the name of the venue you're going to review? where in the US is it located and what part of town is it in?
LN The Boardwalk, Orangevale, CA. Orangevale is kinda dead, it’s 20 min from Sacramento. The venue is in a strip mall.
RSM When did you play this venue and with whom?
LN Feb 2008 with Matt White
RSM What type of music is played at the venue on a regular basis (Rock, acoustic singer songwriter, dance, etc) and what styles would fit best in the venue?
LN It’s a rock club, but they have other acts too. Good mix of locals, but mostly touring acts.
RSM What size crowd makes this room feel full? …or Semi full?
LN 500 feels full, but 250 would be cool
RSM Did this venue seem to have patrons/regulars or was the crowd you played to solely there for the artist?
LN I’m gunna say not a whole lotta walk up traffic.
RSM What was the sound system and backline like? Did you have any contact with the sound engineer?
LN house sound guy was a trip, PA was great, don’t think they have backline.
RSM Is there a charge to enter the venue? Do you know what percentage of the door bands get to keep or did you receive a set fee or tips?
LN yes, there was a cover, I have no idea about percentages, nope on the tip scene.
RSM Does the venue assist in promoting the show or is promoting the show entirely up to the artist?
LN I’d imagine, but I think the artist is also responsible
RSM Any other things that stand out with the venue?
LN you can’t get food in Orangevale past 7pm…nightmare.

LN The Glass House, Pomona CA. It’s a cool little artsy town, Pomona college is right there.

LN Jan 2008 with Matt White

LN all kinds
RSM What size crowd makes this room feel full? …or Semi full?
LN 250 looks good, 500 is full-ish.
RSM Did this venue seem to have patrons/regulars or was the crowd you played to solely there for the artist?
LN this is a bring your crowd with you place for sure.
RSM What was the sound system and backline like? Did you have any contact with the sound engineer?
LN local crew was nice. FOH and monitors were great. Monitor desk stage left, goo stuff.
RSM Is there a charge to enter the venue? Do you know what percentage of the door bands get to keep or did you receive a set fee or tips?
LN I don’t know about this stuff. No tips.

LN dunno

LN all ages. Way cool. Dressing room scene - not as cool.

LN Lots, and lots.

LN Just the artist.

LN in the all ages room downstairs they bring in sound. I guess the quality depends on the shows budget.

LN yes, dunno, no tips

LN same as all of them,

LN cool idea to have all ages in Vegas. The venue is off the beaten path but lots of cool acts come through.

LN 50 people semi 200 packed

LN solely for the artist

LN no contact with the house guys, PA is perfect for the room, the room sounds amazing.

LN yes there’s a cover, no clue about the % and no tips.
RSM Does the venue assist in promoting the show or is promoting the show entirely up to the artist?
LN I’d say a little of both.
RSM Any other things that stand out with the venue?
LN the venue is in an old garage. It’s tiny, but incredibly cool. You’ll scoff when you see it, but it’s all ages and sounds amazing. The merch is sold in a separate hut, and there’s a cool fire pit and refreshments stand in between the two buildings. It’s a hole in the wall but this venue has tons of character.

LN House engineer is great, FOH rig is great, Monitor Desk stage right. It’s a great room.

LN Don’t know about tix prices, or anything eles, no tips.

LN San Fran is a great city.
