RSM What was the sound system and backline like? Did you have any contact with the sound engineer?
First off the room is breathtaking in beauty as well as natural acoustics. Andrew Carnegie knew what he was doing, even without the sizable PA this room sounds beautiful and warm. FOH on ground floor, monitor desk stage right. Great monitor engineer.
RSM Is there a charge to enter the venue? Do you know what percentage of the door bands get to keep or did you receive a set fee or tips?
Ticket price differs from artist to artist. Not sure about door. No tips.
RSM Does the venue assist in promoting the show or is promoting the show entirely up to the artist?
Mainly artist responsibility but venue does promote to its community.
RSM Any other things that stand out with the venue?
Built in 1898 by Andrew Carnegie (you might remember another music hall he built) the venue is both visually and acoustically beautiful. Engineered to house performances long before the advent of microphones, the hall is tuned perfectly to hear every note with or without amplification. With so much history here it’s hard not to give an inspired performance.

The Norva has by far the most amazing backstage I (or anyone else) have ever encountered!! Some years ago the venue bought the health spa that was located behind the stage and turned it into a lush playground for rock stars. Amenities include: leather couches, 3 big screen TV’s, foosball, ping pong, pool table, showers, sauna, hot tub, kitchen, washer & dryer, and full size basket ball court. Truly amazing.
